When we’re out and getting hungry, or there’s no time to cook at home, we tend to go to fast food places. However, we now have a different and accessible alternative – Burrito Pa’Lleval, whose products are available at supermarkets and approximately 100 gas stations throughout the island.
Created under the Grab & Go concept, these burritos are a great consumer option for a fresh, handmade product that’s ready to eat after a few minutes in a microwave, conventional oven, or air fryer.
With four flavors to choose from – bean and cheese, pizza, mozzarella and basil, and four-cheese – these burritos are great for breakfast with coffee, a light lunch, or as dinner with meat or a salad.
“For breakfast, I really enjoy the four-cheese or the mozzarella with basil, because when you combine it with a cup of coffee and ham or bacon, it’s a delicious complement with an egg. Also, whether for lunch or a main meal, the pizza version is the one people like the most. Bean and cheese is also very tasty, and you can combine it with anything,” said Eric Aurioles Márquez, the founder of Burrito Pa’Lleval.
Having operated a Mexican taquería on Jesús T. Piñero Avenue from 2011 until a few years ago, Aurioles, along with his wife and daughters, began creating the innovative concept, with the company currently providing burritos to Econo supermarkets and multiple gas station chains.
Given the various difficulties after hurricanes Irma and María in 2017, he began to consider transforming his business model into one that did not depend on weather conditions for its existence.
“As a result, we began to transition from a restaurant model to one that made products more accessible to customers and available in many places, regardless of the time. And while restaurants are limited in that sense, we wanted to give it a new twist. That’s how we started marketing our burritos,” explained Aurioles.
With the pandemic in 2020, the burrito-to-go concept became even more relevant. “This kind of food is accessible, no matter the situation. And because there weren’t burritos in the local supermarkets or convenience stores at that time, I started to develop it, and the pandemic gave us the opportunity and time to continue with the project,” added the owner, who is a native of Mexico City, and has been a resident of Puerto Rico for 18 years.
In addition to accessibility, the product’s quality, flavor, fresh ingredients, variety of fillings and amount have also made Burrito Pa’Lleval popular. “Our burritos are satisfying from start to finish,” said Aurioles.
On the other hand, ever since the company was incorporated under the Los Rucos name, Burrito Pa’Lleval has developed economically, in part thanks to the financial assistance and support of FirstBank.
“Since coming to FirstBank, I’ve done very well. They’ve treated me well, and I like their offerings, including their direct deposit service to deposit my checks,” said the Burrito Pa’Lleval chef.
That’s why, given the company’s consolidation plans in the Puerto Rico market, along with its upcoming inclusion in all the island’s Walmart stores and product exports to the U.S., Aurioles is looking forward to carrying out these endeavors together with FirstBank.
“They’re very professional, and their services are easy to use and very accessible. With FirstBank, I get a level of support I didn’t have with the other banks,” concluded Aurioles.
